Sibling love is a tricky thing. Mystical to those who are an only child; raging with jealousy/rivalry or kind and comforting and everything in between for the siblings themselves; a "playfield" for psychologists. Sibling love is incomprehensible because it's different for every "pair" of sibling but it's also an unquestionable fact because we FEEL it throughout our lives. Through time, it changes and evolves like we as individuals do. (Thank heavens cos otherwise my brother would be still pulling my hair and I'd be still jealous of him! )

I'm two years older than my brother. We are very different personalities and the way our life turned out, we live in different countries; he's work-oriented, single, living life to its fullest, I'm a stay-at-home mom; see each other maybe twice a year (tho talk and text each other frequently), we're not really IN each other's daily lives, but I'd drop everything if he needed me and he did drop everything when I needed him. I feel closer to him than ever.

I could only speak about my feelings regarding how we matured into loving and accepting each other, but this post is more about celebrating this kind of love rather than dissecting and analyzing it. Of course, the process wasn't easy but that just made our connection all the more precious to me.

And so, my brother's birthday is coming up and it's a big one. I wanted to commemorate it with a layout cos I was always mesmerized by the artistry of them telling the story with only a photo, patterned paper, and embellishments. Through the creative process, I remembered funny stories, proud moments, moving touches. I reflected... I was thankful... I was happy.

It's my first ever layout (and I know it's lacking) but I hope it communicates my love for him through time.

I used Authentique and Stamperia scrapbook papers, Ranger's Texture paste with Tim Holtz's "Speckles" stencil, Perfect Pearls Mist in Bronze and Walnut Distress Ink, embossing powder, flower cutting files from Silhouette, burlap ribbon and glittered chipboard swirl embellishments.

I hope to become better in this form of art cos now that I've started there's no stopping me.
